Sustainability

We love the beauty of natural timber and believe good furniture should be made to last.

For every new piece of furniture you purchase from us, we arrange for a tree to be planted at Halswell Quarry Park through Trees for Canterbury.

We also restore, repair and upcycle furniture, helping much-loved pieces stay in use for longer. We recycle wherever possible and continually look for ways to reduce waste and improve our practices.

Responsible timber sourcing matters to us. We source new timber from suppliers with FSC or PEFC certification and check the certification details of the timber we purchase. We also enjoy giving reclaimed timber a new life.

What do FSC and PEFC mean?

FSC — Forest Stewardship Council
FSC is an independent, non-profit organisation that promotes responsible forest management. Its standards address environmental protection, workers’ rights and the interests of local communities.

PEFC — Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
PEFC is an international, non-profit, non-governmental organisation that promotes sustainable forest management through independent certification. It endorses national forest certification systems that meet its international requirements.

Both systems use chain of custody certification to track certified materials through the supply chain.
