A Century of Memories: Our Family Cabinet

Some possessions carry more than just aesthetic value—they carry memories, love, and history. One such treasure in our family is a cabinet that once belonged to my grandparents. Gifted to them by the family for a wedding anniversary, it quickly became one of their most prized possessions. Over 100 years old, it has witnessed generations and countless cherished moments.

At the time of its sale, the cabinet proudly displayed the most beautiful Chinese tea set, complete with a biscuit barrel. My grandmother fell in love with it instantly, and it was purchased alongside the cabinet. Sadly, the tea set was broken in an earthquake, leaving me with only two tea cups and saucers. Yet, over the years, the cabinet became a showcase for our family’s treasures—Limoges porcelain, Swarovski crystal figurines, Royal Doulton pieces, and countless other ornaments, all deeply treasured, especially by my grandmother.

I inherited not only the cabinet but also the love and care that went into maintaining it. I spent countless hours with my grandmother washing and arranging its contents, a tradition I continue to this day. The recent repairs have given the cabinet new life, allowing it to continue as a centerpiece of our family memories.

A heartfelt thank you to Paul for the impressive restoration—it truly feels as though this cabinet will carry our family’s stories for another hundred years.
